Dear Families,
February 19, 2016
Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Year!
The students are very excited for our Chinese Potluck Dinner on Thursday, February 25th at 5:00pm.
Please have your child dress in red if you can. Red is the good luck color of Chinese New Year. The kindergarteners will be singing a song for you before we start eating. I think you will like it! We will gather the children upon arrival and then sing for you. After we sing we will enjoy our Chinese food together. When you and your family are done eating and visiting with other families you are free to go,please be sure to take home your dishes and your child’s Chinese work that will be displayed in the multi-purpose room. The student’s have worked hard and have learned a great deal about the traditions and customs of Chinese New Year. They are very excited to share what they know with you.
Our class is responsible for bringing in entrees. Please bring something to serve about 12 people. Your entree does not have to be home made. It can certainly be picked up from our local Chinese restaurant, The Peking Garden. If you are making your dish, we ask that you list the ingredients. If you use peanut or sesame oil, please make sure to note that as well on your ingredients card.
One other important thing we ask of you is that when you and your family are done eating, please do not let your children run around the multi-purpose room.It is so exciting to see your classmates at school in the evening and eat together to celebrate Chinese New Year! It is hard for them to not want to run around but with your help I think we can have a wonderful evening!! Thank you so much in advance.
We had a wonderful time celebrating Valentine’s Day and the 100th Day of School. Thank you all for your participation in this event. The class had a wonderful time and everyone brought something in for both occasions! Thank you!
Hopefully, you all were able to access your child’s report card on Aspen. If you have any questions or concerns about it please feel free to contact me. It is amazing that we are more than half way through the year. The class is doing fantastic and really make a wonderful group. We are sad to have to say goodbye to Zailyn Miletich who is moving to Italy on March 1st. We will miss her and wish her and her family the best of luck on their new adventure.
This week our letter of the week was, “Qq.” Our tongue twister was, “Quinton and Queenie quilt quickly and quietly.”
In math, we practiced counting to 100 by 1’s, 5’s and 10’s.
We also worked on writing our numbers 1-10 in Chinese and created our own Chinese Dragons.
Wish List:
We are running very low on glue sticks….
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. MacIntyre
