Dear Families,
Apri 7, 2017
Rain, Rain, go away, come again another day… we have been singing that in school this week. It has been a long week here with all the rain but the good news is it is going to bring beautiful flowers and sunny days are in store for next week. When we can not go outside for recess we put Go Noodle on.. You could try this at home if you don’t already. Just google Go Noodle and you will see what we do. The class favorite is Banana, Banana, Meatball…
In Writer’s Workshop, the students made mini books about about their partner. They did a super job and the books will be coming home soon!
In math, the students are working on adding and subtracting within 10 or more and distinguishing between 3D and 2D shapes. They are working on telling what number comes next up to 100. For example, ask your child ,”If I say 39 can you tell me what comes next?” We have also been working on writing our numbers as far as we can go...
Our fish are doing very well. Milk and Cookies, the goldfish, are thriving. The baby guppies are growing and it is interesting to be able to watch how they change as the grow. We have listed the attributes that guppies and goldfish have in common and also what is different about them. We will also begin to look at our trees again and see what changes are occurring now that winter is over.
Next week is a very short week. Students only have school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The following week is vacation so we will return on April 24th. I hope that April vacation is a beautiful one for all of you. When we return we will really be in the homestretch of kindergarten.
Kindergarten Graduation will be on the LAST DAY of school. That is June 22nd. It will be held in the Multi-purpose room followed by a family style picnic at Fort Wetherill. PLEASE SAVE THE DATE! Details will follow in the coming weeks.
Have  wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
Mrs. MacIntyre

Dear Families,
March 31, 2017

I am sure you have heard it was a busy week here in K-3.
Please ask your child all about it. They should be able to tell you the names of all the chicks.
Thank you so much to Mrs. Palumbo. She brought the chicks in in the early stages, and also supplied everything we needed to enjoy this amazing experience.
I am so grateful and I know the students will always remember this.
The chicks are leaving this heading back home with Ryker this afternoon.
We will miss them…
Thank you to all the guest readers who came in this week. If you would like to come in and read and did not have a chance this week, just let me know and we can work something out.
During the month of March we learned about word families and read many Dr. Seuss books. The students are integrating what they have learned about rhyming and ending sounds into their writing. It is a great month to observe growth in reading and writing. Our letter of the week was “Jj.” Our tongue twister was.”Jeremy and Jazmin jiggle like jelly.” This was our last letter of the alphabet. We will start to write words and sentences for morning work now.
In April we will look for signs of spring and write a mini book during Writer’s Workshop.
We only have 51 days of kindergarten left. It is going to go by fast.
I hope you all have a nice weekend. If you happen to see any signs of spring you can bring them in for our spring table.
Sincerely,

Mrs. MacIntyre
