Dear Families,
February 26,2015

Gung Hay Fat Choy! I hope you all had a wonderful time at the Chinese Potluck Dinner. The multi-purpose room looked beautiful and so did the children! I hope you enjoyed the singing and all the delicious food. Thank you all for bringing food to the Potluck. It was wonderful and a great way for the students to celebrate all they have learned about Chinese New Year with their families and friends!  I hope you enjoyed looking through your child’s work and hopefully they taught you something about Chinese New Year that you may not have known. This also ends the month of February as we are moving swiftly into March.
During the month of March, we will be focusing on rhyming and word families. One way we do this is emerging ourselves into Dr. Seuss books!
We will read and rhyme throughout the month. Dr. Seuss has so many wonderful books for children to enjoy and remember for a lifetime!
We named our new goldfish Rainbow and Sprinkles with the names French Toast and Sausage and Spaghetti and Meatballs trailing behind in the votes!
As part of our Animals Two by Two Unit, we will be observing, identifying and writing about different goldfish characteristics and behaviors.
This week our letter of the week was “Gg.” Our tongue twister was, “Gail and Gwen grow goodies in their garden.” Please encourage your child to practice their lowercase letters at home if they are writing something.
In math, we continue to practice with subtraction. The use of manipulatives is very important when learning this concept in kindergarten.
I hope you all have a nice weekend. Thank you so much for your support this week especially and as always throughout the year!

Sincerely,

Mrs. MacIntyre
