Dear Families,
March 18, 2016

I am sure you heard all about the shenanigans that went on here in K-3 yesterday. We had a mischievous leprechaun that came into our classroom. The students were on the lookout for him all day, we think we heard him but we never saw him….
We were very lucky to have Kathy Brownell come in and gather all the kindergarten classrooms together. She told us some Irish folktales and sang some beautiful music with different instruments as well. She also read a poem to us that including our class. She is very talented and kind to come in and treat us to such a great time. Thank you Miss Kathy!
We continue to work on poetry and rhyming words. The students are really enjoying learning about word families and are learning so many new words this month that they can sound out and incorporate into their daily writer’s workshop papers.
We are also working very hard in our science journals. We are comparing our goldfish to our guppies through observation. The students are excited to make connections in this unit with what they already know about fish!
In math, we are learning about shapes and comparing ones that are alike and ones that are different, this ties into our science unit of comparing alike and different very nicely.
Our letter of the week was “Ii”. Our tongue twister was, “ Isaac and Iris like ice cubes and ice cream.”
Reading week was a great success and congratulations to all of the students for reading nightly and keeping track of your minutes. You all did a great job and it is so nice to see you excited about reading! Keep it up!
I would like to thank all the parents and community members and athletes for coming in and reading to our class. It really makes it special for students to see adults enjoying a good book.

If you were not able to come in and you would like to, please let me know and I would be happy to arrange that with you.
I hope you all have a good weekend and I really hope that I see you all on Monday…..
I heard that there is a chance of………. snow!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sincerely,

Mrs. MacIntyre
